Ghostly Whispers and Phantom Footsteps

Phantom Whispers and Footsteps are a common occurrence within many office buildings, house or flat has a presence of a ghostly nature within it. Before a person may even have seen a full figure ghost in their residence, they will have more than likely have heard one or more unearthly voice, and on many occasions footsteps that are not attached to a physical body.

Those who have experienced these sometimes un-nerving paranormal occurrences, have spoke of someone whispering to them so close to their ear that the person can feel a cool breeze. Often the sane feeling that you feel when someone breathes on you when they are standing right next to you.

Others have experienced the sound of footsteps walking across a wooden floor in a room that is known to be carpeted. People have heard footsteps in the room above them when they know no-one is in the house/flat but themselves. There have even been reported cases of people who have heard footsteps pass them in the stairs even though they can see no physical body to account for the footsteps.

When I was about 19 or 20, I was working in an office that had at one time been a nunnery. The nuns crypt still intact was situated in the basement which was underneath the kitchen, next to the kitchen was the main staircase leading to the upper floor offices which had once been where the nuns rooms where situated. Anyway, to get on with the story, each morning one person was sent out to get the break time buns from the bakery. It so happen that there was this one morning I was the one chosen to go to the bakery.

On the way back to the office I began my ascent up the main staircase when I suddenly heard like a shuffling sound behind me. It was as if someone was trying to get pass me on the stairs, I took another few steps and the shuffling continued. So, I stepped aside and heard footsteps pass me but there was no physical body beyond my own body on that staircase.

As I stepped aside and the footsteps passed me I heard the words 'God Bless you'. I wish I could say that with all my abilities and experience of the paranormal that I was calm and rational at that moment. The truth is my body reacted before I had time to think about it, I bolted like a race horse hearing the shot for the beginning of a race to start and ran as fast as I could up the rest of the stairs. In actual fact I was taking two stairs at a time and I ran up the rest of the stairs and didn't stop until I was back in the office.

When my breathing went back to normal and I had calmed myself down, I told my work friends about what had happened. Some believed and some didn't, but there were many who believed and had paranormal stories of their own about that old nunnery that they had each experienced themselves and were willing to tell.

I am sure like me many of you who have heard of people with ghostly experiences. People of all ages who have said they have frozen and been unable to move as they saw or heard or felt a ghost near them. Or, like me have seen something and run, it just goes to show that no matter who you are, or what psychic or medium abilities you have, or paranormal experience you have had. There can be times when the body can react before the mind can process these things. When you do have paranormal experiences you can never fully be prepared for how the body can or will react to these weird and wonderful experiences.

Supernatural: Non-Visitational Ghosts - Bound

There are a few different types of Ghosts that can haunt a house, building or bit of land. These two main types are Visitational and Non-Visitational Ghosts. The first that we are going to discuss is Non-Visitational Ghosts. These types of Ghosts are bound to a particular place. There can be several reasons why some Ghosts can be bound to a place. One of the main reasons is un-natural death, dying before ones original time. People who die in traumatic ways such as murder can end up bound to the place they died.

This doesn’t happen in every case of murder, war or un-natural death. Some people when they die move on to the Spirit Plane without a problem. For some people when they die through shock and confusion of leaving their bodies in such violent actions well, it leaves them sometimes feeling very lost and confused. When these people die they are shocked by what has happened to them so they tend to cling to the earthly plane, not wanting to leave for fear of losing their families or sometimes it is their own general fear of the unknown that bounds them here.

It can also be at times that for some people because of the quickness of their death’s they don’t realise that they are dead, they are confused and need a little time to settle to the idea that it is time to take the journey to the Spirit Realm. Sometimes a bound ghost can be bounded to a place where they died. Or more often where their family once lived they can tend to stay in those places that they once lived or died in.

In many cases it is act of violence that can bind a ghost to the place where they died. This also happens during wars and battles with so much violence and death, soldiers get confused that they have actually died and so due to the quickness of the death.

Many Ghostly soldiers don’t know that there dead after they leave their body they are always looking for something, like friends or family but more often than not because of the violence of the battles. They end up bound to the battlefields and with some of these military ghosts they don’t feel the passage of time so hundred years after the battle they can still believe that the battle is still going on and there trying to find their military commanders to give them orders of what to do next. Some search for enemies that are no longer there and some just are continually trying to get back to their families who are long dead. For the majority of these types of Bound Ghosts, once they realise that they are dead most just want to cross over to the Spirit Plane to be with there families.

Supernatural: Visitational Ghosts

Unlike Non-Visitational or Bound Ghosts, Non-Visitational Ghosts are not Bound or attached to a particular place. They generally can come and go as they please. They don't haunt like other Ghosts as such, but they do visit certain places usually on a regular bases.

One of the best examples of a Visitational Ghost I found for you was in a book called 'The Unexplained' by Rueben Stone:

This story is about a woman called Frances Little, who with her husband moved to a house in California in 1968. After a few weeks of living in their new home they had just begun to settle in when both of them would have a paranormal experience with a Visitational Ghost.

In there new home one day Frances Little's husband saw a woman cross the window outside the house. He thought it was his wife because he had just seen his wife leave the room and assumed she had went outside. After a short time he realized that the woman was not his wife Frances and knew that it was a ghost that he had seen. Frances wasn't sure what to believe, was there a ghost in there new home or not? That was until she saw the ghost lady herself.

Deciding that she needed to find out who this lady was she researched on her new home. Frances asked neighbours about the tall slim woman in the old fashioned clothes she had seen. After finding some things that the previous owners had left, she came across a old photograph and there in the picture was the ghost lady.

She made a few enquires and with the help of the photograph was able to find out that the woman in the photograph had been called Margaret. Margaret had once lived with her husband in the exact house in the 1920's. The same house that Frances and her husband now lived in. She had loved the house so much that when she died she came back in Visitation to the house she had loved so well.

So as you can see from the story most visitational ghosts tend to be sighted in many places not just one area, room or building. Visitational Ghosts tend to roam places that had meaning for them when they were alive.

The Supernatural - Part 2

SHADOW PEOPLE

Shadow People are often seen as dark shadowy figures with faceless features, they are just an outline of darkness which is why some people feel that they are menacing or evil. But, are Shadow People just evil Spectre's or are there more to them than that. Often with anything of a Ghostly or Paranormal nature brings fear into the heart and minds of many beings on the Physical Plane.

We associate colors and words with good and evil, when people see the color white they often associate that color with words like good, nice, light, bright etc.. While the color black in people's minds seems to make the association with darkness, bad, evil. I mean even in old western movies the good guys always wore white or light colored hats, and the bad guys always wore black hats and often black clothes too. So all cultures and societies teach us from childhood to associate colors and words.

The problem is that not everything is as simple as cut and dry as black and white, bad and good. What you have to do to understand the Paranormal, is to go outside your comfort zone and open your mind to get to the core and see beyond color and words. It's all about changing the way we see things, to really look and not just glance at the world around us.

Shadow People may be black and faceless, but there is no real proof beyond what some people feel, or think they feel when they see or have seen Shadow People, to say that they are evil, bad or menacing may only come to mind because of the colour/word association. But, as I have said before perhaps the people who think this way, could have been influenced by what they have been brought up to believe, by society and by color and word association to think that black is bad or that darkness is evil or menancing.

In part one I talked about Orbs being seen by some as the first sign of a Ghost or Spectre. It takes time for a Ghost to be able to manifest itself into a figure that is more solid or looks more like a person. It takes a lot of energy and time for a Ghost to be able to learn to manifest into a figure.

So, could it be possible that Shadow People are in fact the second stage of manifestation. Like could the first stage be Orbs then the second stage be Shadow People and the third stage be a Ghostly figure. What do you think, is this possible or not? The decision is yours!

The Supernatural

Tales of ghosts have always been at the centre of our culture for thousands of years. Throughout the centuries and from the campsite to the fireside we have all been both storytellers and listeners of stories of ghostly apparitions, haunted buildings and strange noises in the dead of night. Many stories throughout time are of pure imagination and we have been chilled to the bones by authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King and James Herbert.

Although many stories told have come from the pure imagination of not only published authors but from all the old storytellers imagination. In the present and past there continues to be thousands of true accounts of ghostly experiences and experiences of things that go bump in the night. But the real question is how do we distinguish between the fiction. How do we distinguish the fact of each ghost story and how to we determine the realities within the tales.

Over the centuries there has always been thousands of eye witnesses who have claimed to have seen ghosts. From shadow people to apparitions, poltergeists and then to the more solid looking ghosts that could look as real as you me. There are many different types of ghosts that one can see and experience. But, the real problem with that is that for most people they sometimes don't know how to explain what they have seen, or what to call what they have seen or experienced. That being the case, perhaps this glimpse into the world of ghosts will help to explain the types of ghosts that can be seen and experienced.

ORBS

There are many different types of definitions and explanations of what orbs are and what they represent. From what I know of them they cannot be seen by the naked eye and are more likely to be caught on camera or video. Orbs can sometimes be mistaken for dust except for the fact that they are larger in mass and can move in various directions. They are exactly as their name describes they are energy orbs, a brightly lit orb of ghostly energy. Many people believe that the energy orb is the first stage of a ghost trying to manifest itself.

POLTERGEIST

The name Poltergeist is a German term, Polter means noisy and Geist means ghost. Putting them together gives you an exact definition of the type of ghost that they are, noisy ghost. Poltergeists don't have any physical form that an individual can see. These ghosts make themselves noticed by using their energy to move furniture, rap on doors and walls, slam doors etc. They are very mischievous ghosts most of the time. But, there have been several cases of Poltergeists in houses becoming more than just mischievous, and have gotten very physical or should I say violent towards the occupants of the house. Poltergeists are often found in houses and areas where there are children especially children who are verging from child to teenager.

SPECTRAL OBJECTS

Spectral is just another name to describe something of a ghostly nature. Spectral comes from the word Spectre meaning 'ghostly figure'. In this case we are looking at Spectral Objects such as, ghost ships, coaches. cars, trams, animals etc.

I am sure that in many town's and cities that there is a tale of a ghostly coach, car, tram or animal that haunts a particular area. These Spectral objects give the appearance of something real. But, the feelings that are experienced such as chills, hair standing up on the back of your neck or just the feeling that something isn't as it should be are what is felt when these objects are visually seen.

Some spectral objects can appear quite solid while others can be quite transparent. It very much depends on the energy surrounding that object.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Some people believe that these 'Spectral Sightings' are caused by a doorway through time or a time veil that lifts for a few moments and gives us a glimpse of the past. Perhaps if this works both ways we look equally weird in are futuristic clothes and surroundings to the people from the past. If this could be a fact then I suppose we are as much Spectre's to them as they are to us. It's an interesting hypothesis to think over.
